15.Apr.2010 What’s Happening - Shaan

I don’t know about you, but I think I average about 10-15 Facebook event invites a day. In an effort to help you weed through the bullshit, we’re going to try and post a weekly mid-week summary of the most relevant news to pass through Gainesville, as well as what’s coming up for the weekend. Here are some of the highlights from this past week, as well as a heads up for the rest of the week:
- UF is good at every sport, including the ones you didn’t know had championships.
- Dance Marathon raised $512,260.79 for the Children’s Miracle Network; cancer still not cured.
- Sam Adams is turning 25 years old at Mothers. The beer, not the person.
- Cookie scandal at the Greek Chicken Wing Thing. Community response: “Totally threw off my corn hole game bro.”
- RUB brings Flosstradamus to the Reitz April 16th.
- Student police protest gets 1/3rd of demands met; GPD still refuses to give up “player hating.”
- Gainesville Fashion Week recap, complete with a cheeky and flamboyant tone.
- Pool Party @ Canopy Apartments this Saturday, April 17th.
- The most viewed mug shot in Gainesville this week.
- Neon Liger’s blog and twitter finally go online, hipsters remain apathetic to news.
- Bros fucking love rioting.
- Bros also fucking love different perspectives on rioting.
On that note, here’s some background music to read your news to. Brooklyn natives PUNCHES released a mix of sweet funky house jams. They sent us some of their tunes, and you can hear them on their latest mix:
