26.Jul.2009 Tigers, Sparkles, and Rivets! - Lazaroc
It is no surprise that Gainesville is full of events that are specifically marketed and sold to the average college guy/gal. However, this weekend debuted a new low of pool party marketing.
We bring you “The Ed Hardy Pool Party”
The event was conveniently located at The Enclaves (those pre-fab apartments they have been constructing for well over the past year at the entrance of Gville Place.) The entrance was surrounded by racks of Ed Hardy apparel and skinny chicks trying to get you to register for an Ed Hardy Raffle contest.
The party was put together by some promotions company that calls themselves “The Network.” According to their website
“The Network is a social networking website dedicated to nightlife. We throw the biggest most extravagant events Gainesville has ever seen.”
They definitely had the most extreme and extravagant glorification of Ed Hardy Apparel I have ever seen besides being on South Beach during The Winter Music Conference. There was plenty of free food and beer during the overcast afternoon. The only catch was waiting twenty minutes to fill up your cup due to there only being two taps for a couple hundred college kids thirsty for Natty Light.

Besides for shoddy weather, the party delivered as promised. The Dj dropped the latest in Top-40 electro remixes and had the crowd’s heads rocking while trying to keep the rain out of their beers. The party climaxed during the much anticipated Ed Hardy Fashion Show. As if everyone was craving for some new insight and tips for their wardrobes. Local models paraded across the makeshift catwalk showcasing only the latest in Ed Hardy bathing suits, outerwear, and super cool hats. This fiasco only lasted about 10 minutes before giant thunderclouds unleashed a downpour causing everyone to crowd the exits and washed away any memory of what they had just witnessed.
Here are a few pics taken before the rain ruined everything.
