Alright, so next weekend marks the inaugural Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando at Tinker Field. The event will run from 2pm – 12am Friday, May 27th and Saturday, May 28th. I’m pretty sure all your friends are attending on the Facebook Group. So if you’re deciding on being self-righteous and not attending you should probably head over the ticket page and get with it.

Insomniac is bringing 4 stages to downtown Orlando to melt faces with the likes of Afrojack, Tiesto, Benny Bennasi, Skrillex, Cavlin Harris, Diplo, Datsik and 12th Planet.

No longer simply an electronic music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival has grown into a one of a kind, full entertainment experience. Steve Aoki @ Roxy Orlando

This past week we were asked to cover the Steve Aoki set at the Roxy in Orlando. The show was your standard Electro mayhem, featuring several songs with crunchy basslines, Aoki spitting champagne all over the crowd, and guidos picking fights with hipsters.

Phantom Status Entertainment put on a great show with gorgeous dancers wearing nothing but body paint and serving flaming bottles of Patron, but something tells me they didn’t hire Glowstick Magillicutty.

Orlando Food and Wine Festival

It seems if you leave Gainesville even for a weekend, you come back to a whole new mess of problems and decisions to make. With the Gator game taking place in South Carolina, many decided to avoid that messy situation all together and instead attend The Orlando Food and Wine Festival at Lake Eola Park.

The event featured 36 of Orlando’s finest restaurants and winery’s from across the country and globe. Anyone who was out there, or even outside this weekend will tell you how amazing the weather was. Throw in some national talent such as The Average White Band, Rico Monaca, and Warren Hill, you have yourself an event fit for any villain.

Primo took the event and was serving these delicious “Arancinis” among a range of other menu items. I didn’t see anything out there that wasn’t appetizing. Kobe dinner for $2 you couldn’t go wrong. Yeah there were plenty of 5 star resorts with their restaurants and chefs cooking up some of Orlando’s finest culinary art but the reality of the situation is that Tijuana Flats is a second home to many of us. They were serving up soft tacos and burritos and pouring wines practically for free in comparison to other restaurants. Looking forward to next years event, as well as anything else going on outside downtown Orlando with weather like this.

Anti-Pop invades Orlando, November 11th-14th

This year marks the 5th Anti-Pop Music Festival in Orlando, Fl. The event will feature some of the nation’s most cutting edge and just under the radar performers in venues across downtown Orlando. Thats over 100 scheduled bands for $25 dollars, including Pete Yorn, Yacht, Soliloquists of Sound, Basements in Florida and Minus The Bears at Club Firestone.

It sounds like a done deal, get me to Park Ave Cds immediately so I can pick up my pass.

Holiday

Monday morning news feeds are usually full of the typical mundane monday hate or posts about all the fun you didn’t have over the weekend. Halloween is less than a week away and Thanksgiving around the corner, its got you thinking about the holidays.

Although this isn’t quite the same kind of pool partying, liquor drinking, girls in bathing suits while UK’s top dance tracks are blasting on a couple thousand dollars worth of audio equipment that Dizzee Rascal is talking about, it is still a welcome vacation from the typical work week.

I want to thank Pauly Crush for making Mondays a bit more bearable, if you’re not in the know of the Florida native DJ, check out some of his mixes and all of the Crush Kids at Back Booth in Orlando on Monday Nights.
