After spending a majority of my day out of town, I was glad that I had made it back in time to catch the main act. Unfortunately missing the Whigs but still able to obtain a good spot to catch Citizen Cope. Clarence Greenwood got the crowd excited as he marched across his set list, taking little time for side commentary. I am not a fan of Citizen Cope but I don’t think anyone out there could deny the fact that they were sounding really good. The audio was crisp and clear as the drums rolled off the speakers and the kick drum and subs were moving air and bodies alike. The stars were out and people were laying around on blankets as Citizen Cope continued the soundtrack for a near perfect Saturday evening. After a brief break, Greenwood came back solo on stage to begin the encore. He played a few new tracks off the upcoming album before being rejoined with his band. After closing up with some of their more popular songs, the lights came on and the people left as quietly as they came.

I was excited to see that the new band shell is able to mount full audio and lighting rigs. This should mean a decade or two of full productions out on flavet. Personally, Flavet field is my favorite outdoor venue for a show. The new band shell is the perfect stage and the sloped field provides the perfect opportunity for viewing. Plenty of great memories hanging out with friends on that field while nationally touring musicians provide a great backdrop. Looking forward to all the shows to come.

He has to go play a show on a Mountain Top. Sort of lame cause I was looking forward to watching him bounce around the stage and play with all sorts of instruments.


The Whigs will be replacing him and opening up the show. They have been gaining a lot of exposure on tour with Kings of Leon. I don’t really know anything about “The Whigs” but according to people on youtube they rock.

After watching that video tho I can’t help but be excited. I just want some rocking tunes in an outdoor environment.
