Some local entrepreneurs in Gainesville have opened up the most useful delivery service since mail order brides. The Beer Delivery Guys do exactly what their name says, deliver beer straight to you. Their menu includes:

“108 different types of beer, sake, wine, champagne, energy drinks, cigarettes, cigars, dip, hookahs, hookah tobacco, rolling tobacco, and rolling papers. We always carry at least 11 types of kegs and take special orders with 48 hours notice. An often-overlooked aspect of having a party are the supplies needed. We carry ice, taps, buckets, cups, ping-pong balls, and even dice. Lastly we carry gum, chocolate, and candy for those late nights.”

On a short trip to the rivals hometown of Athens, I was introduced to Terrapin. The local brewing company has been serving drunken bulldogs a variety of ales since its inaugural rye pale ale in 2002.

Their bottles are marketed with a clever and adventurous turtle that finds himself in a range of situations. Year round they brew Rye Pale Ale, Golden Ale, India Style Brown Ale and a SunRay Wheat Beer. They also have plenty of side projects and limited quantity blends.

The Rye Pale Ale was definitely my favorite with a strong hoppy taste and wonderful aroma. It has won countless awards and is easily one of the best pale ales you will ever consume. If you ever get up to Athens try to take a tour of the brewery. Or if you see Terrapin floating around your local pub or supermarket pick some up, it will not disappoint.
