Mexico has always been a top destination for Spring Break trips and cruises. College kids flock to Mexico every year with the promise of white sand beaches, never ending wells of Tequila, and promiscuity. However, the past year has been very difficult for Mexico with the threats of Swine Flu and ongoing violence among Mexican drug cartels.

In an attempt to ease peoples minds of the threat of getting caught in a hail storm of bullets or contracting a potentially fatal case of swine flu, Mexican President, Felipe Calderon has signed a bill legalizing possession of small amounts of drugs. Under the new Mexican drug legalization law, a person may possess:

- Five grams of marijuana

- One half-gram of cocaine

- 50 milligrams of heroin

- 40 milligrams of meth

- 0.015 milligrams of LSD

What does this mean for the American Tourist? Will Spring Break Tour Operators offer all inclusive packages not limited to all you can drink specials but all you can smoke, snort, shoot, and freebase? Will American companies profit off of creating addicts out of our youth more so than they already have? Or will all of my friends facebook albums from Mexico just start to look more like this?
