It’s always great to get big time EDM talent around Gainesvegas and that was the case this week when
Swedish DJ Alesso came to town. It was his first trip to the swamp and he put on a great debut performance, showcasing many of the strong tracks and remixes that have helped lift him to prominence in the EDM scene over the past year or so. The night was an absolute blast from start to finish, as the atmosphere was capped by a number of familiar and unfamiliar electro tracks played from Alesso. On the remix side, Alesso played some of his bigger ones including his switch up of David Guetta’s “Titanium,” as well as his remix of the huge mainstream hit “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO and perhaps his biggest one with a remix of “Pressure.”

Alesso moved into some of his own originals by playing one of his new tracks “Calling,” which is collaboration with one third of Swedish House Mafia, Sebastian Ingrosso. He also dropped a number of popular tracks throughout the night such as “Good Feeling” and Calvin Harris’ hit “Feel So Close.” All together, Alesso put on a great set and kept The Vault energized throughout the night with a continuous string of good tracks.

Even though it was his first trip to town, hopefully it won’t be his last. With great success since his start in 2010, Alesso has quickly become one of the biggest up and coming names in the EDM scene. Locally his popularity is continuing to grow as well as his remixes and originals are certainly being pumped in a number of Gainesville apartments, dorms and houses, especially within the college scene at UF.

Alesso is expected to have a great 2012 and has been kicking it off the right way with a solid US tour. He’ll be playing few more dates throughout the US in the rest of February including a stop in Miami, New York and Philadelphia. These US dates come on the heels of the release of his new track with Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso with “Eclipse.” If the show at the Vault this is any sign, than Alesso is likely set for a fun and major year in 2012.
